Finally! The book I wish I had when I took on the job as Program Manager. If you manage project managers, buy this book for them all. This is a book not only for the engineer newly appointed as a project manager, but also for engineers to understand the thinking of their project manager. This is a MUST READ. Why did I have to learn all this the hard way? I wish I could have found all this information in one very readable volume. The Tales From the Trenches chapter demonstrates how all this relates to the everyday life of the project manager. This book needs to be on your desk.

Review by: Fred Brown, Graduate Director Systems Engineering Leadership Program, Loyola Marymount University (Ret.) - March 22, 2019

Patel's book is exactly what it claims to be: a practical guide to project management. It's covers all critical areas and is a particularly good resource for new and mildly experienced project managers - easy to read and understand.. The background research is very strong - covers all the critical areas with solid references included. The 'Tales from the Trenches' really help see the applications to real-world programs.
