Video markets, including television, telecom, and computers are experiencing an exciting transition from analog to digital technology. TV-style motion video, now digital, is appearing in new venues such as the digitally interactive Internet. This comprehensive, clearly written book provides practicing and future system engineers with a firm grounding in digital technology - focusing on digital audio and video in particular - and shows how it applies to all fields. Principles of Digital Audio and Video Video helps you strengthen your grasp of the underlying principles and practical applications of digital A/V, and lets you see where the technology will take us into the next century. With this book in hand, you quickly learn how to screen and select A/V system components, and how to choose the best design approaches for a particular system. Broadcast and computer system-design engineers can turn to this well organized reference for a clear understanding of analog-digital conversion, video cameras, digital transmission and processing, compression, recording and storage, postproduction, and much more.
